Blood Angels Terminator Librarian Painted

Quite pleased with this, the conversion worked well I feel and its a very nice model. My slight lamentation about the crispness of metal minis in comparison earlier in the week notwithstanding.

Starting to feel like I’m getting the hang of the TMM on the blades now, though there's still a point every now and then when I lose a transition.. due to the concentration of metallic pigments fluctuating in the solution on the palette I fear.

Base was made the same way as the tac squad bases I cast up, some structural magic sculpt embedded rocks, clear some space for dried out river/pools and hit those with the crackle technical.

Now I just need to finish up the termies that will accompany him; this may be delayed as it appears I may actually be playing today! Gasp!

It’s a lovely model stock, don't get me wrong, but I couldn't let that +1 I go to waste, so, he gets a sword, and some additional protection in the form of a storm shield's invulnerable save.

 

I gave him the ornate shield form the BA assault Termie pack, and a relic blade which I figure can be a force sword, of if I want to give him the relic sword it can be that too.

This guy is also on the half term paint pile, let’s see if I get to him in the remaining time…

Blood Angels Drop Pod

These can be tricksy to paint, and to photograph too, my bad for not waiting and trying to take pics before the mattcoat was applied.

I’ve given it a decent but hopefully natural looking weathering. I’m going to try and roll this style of weathering out to all the vehicles for this force.

I put a decent amount of wear and dirt on the upper surfaces of the leaves as it’s these that contact the ground when deploying, and I figure there no way these get repainted before each drop. To that end I’ve dirtied the inside down a bit too.

Now sadly I lost one of the decals during the weathering stage, I’ve left it off, cos we’ve all seen worn markings, but I fear its too obviously a missing decal. I shall likely have to go back and fix that.

Well we’re getting through half term, making models and posting results. looks like I’m going to be on track so, strap in :)

Blood Angel Assault terminators

 

Another lovely new kit- I would normally have built all hammernators, but the +1 I from the BA formation means I5 on the charge and thats too good not to use, so three guys here have LC’s

I’m hoping to have paint on these chaps by the end of the week, so lets see how I go with that.

Blood angel scouts – Metal ones!

Finished these chaps up, absolute pleasure to paint something with actual sculpted details. There’s so much more personality in these old models than the newer plastics, if any marine kit needs a revamp its the scout box, seriously.

From the gubbins they are carrying, to the individualised blades

the posing, and the sharp detailed faces

even the edge detail on the folds of the trousers

kind of reminds me why I got into this in the first place, and makes me very sad for the new trend of plastic blisters for single characters, at this point, I'd almost wish for finecast back.

Don't get me wrong, the new character models (BA termie libby and sang priest) are decent, but the crispness just isn't there like it is with pewter or resin.
