Rune Priest Painted

This model will represent Thror Wyrdeye partly because he’s old looking and cool, and partly because that's going to be my hair in a a few years :)

Merry Christmas!

Here’s hoping Santa and his little Gretchin bring you all you hoped for and you can spend the day in safety in the embrace of your loved ones…

And if you are Old enough to remember these chaps…

Ragnar Blackmane Conversion

One of the things I’ve been kindof focussed on is Getting a full, tricked out squad of Blood claws and attendants across the field and into someone’s face.

My Christmas break will see the arrival of a Storm wing, and I can already Feel a Storm eagle wending it’s way form Nottingham, so I felt it was time to make someone to lead this flying nutbag squad, Hence, Ragnar.

The Great Hunt of Thror Wyrdeye

There are stories among the brothers of the Space Wolves, this ancient Chapter which retains much of the memory of the Legion it once was. the stories are that every few centuries a rune priest will be chosen by Russ.

Servitors

DSC_8203

These were lovely models to paint, dead happy with them too, feel like I’m shaking off the rust from my absence. I went with metallics again because they are intended to accompany the Techmarine/Iron Priest form last week, but kept the neutral enough they could one day help out the Inquisition with their investigations.

Grey Hunter Squad and Wolfguard

Of Bran Redmaw’s Great CompanyDSC_8162 - Copy

Yeah, these guys are a group of five with MM and Power sword, accompanied by a Wolf Guard with a Combi melta and Powerfist. They ride about in an Assault cannon Razorback and generally make life hard for people.

Storm Wing!

Ohyes.

I was actually wrestling with whether to purchase this set just for use in apoc, or whether to go for the Storm Eagle..

this:

http://www.blacklibrary.com/games-workshop-digital-editions/Dataslate-Adeptus-Astartes-Storm-Wing.html

Pretty much means i can use this with my wolves, so that makes me quite happy. I just have one unanswered question.. could troops from the main detachment ride in this? start the game in this? once my ipad has power i will seek the answer….

oh, Also means i could put a force with three stormtalons on the field. while still keeping wolves as my main. shiny.

If i do this, I'll actually photograph my conversion this time :)

A Thunderfire Cannon and a Mistake..

I’ll tell you what the mistake is at the end of the post, for now, let me show you the Cannon..DSC_8164

Build to be the “heavy” choice in my Allies force org, SM codex, but still painted SW as My army here is a great hunt, using a few different wolf lords etc.. I figure one of those wolf lords can be an SM codex choice..

Amazing Modelling/Painting book Indiegogo campaign

This was just too good not to back, I mean look at it! and its a very reasonable price to..

Made by some of the outstanding talent at the Cursed Monkeys website, and some names anyone in the scene or who goes on CMON will have seen over and over, it looks like a great book to have..

The campaign is on Indiegogo and I'd be very sorry to have missed it, so thanks to Roman at Massive Voodoo for the heads up.

Operation Squad AAR

I actually got to play a game – although its a while ago now, So thoughts here will be general recollections through the filter of time..

I will say that it was very good fun, and the table, and miniatures looked pretty good. it was refreshing to play a smaller scale game with a lot of cover, and I think my next few 40k games will be the same, mainly because i still haven't got the 6th ed rules down. a shame as i think there's a lot in there for me to like.
anyway, Operation squad

Its a good, fast game where each model is a single man, the lovely sequences of intention, then initiative feels fluid and intuitive and it plays well.

I’ll definitely play this again, if i ever get chance :)

An Update? Can it Be?

Indeed.

Rising, Zombie like form the grave once more... Apologies to all who have kept this blog languishing in their "followed" list, - a New term always brings challenges and this one has been no exception. It is my hope to return to updating, but I wont fool myself into setting a schedule or any expectations. I will however share some pictures of some Germans I painted before the hiatus, and I've enough content for a few more posts I think, If i can find the time to both Paint, and Update...

So, some Germans for you then..

OOooo a FLAMETHROWER….. how could I not?

DSC_8025 DSC_8026 DSC_8027

AHEM, so yeah, I recovered form this German infatuation, although i do have a few Americans lurking in a drawer.. I may even also have a test fig waiting for paint for them. but that’s by the by..

I enjoyed these simply because they were delightfully easy to paint, that said they aren't my best work by far, but I think the pressure I've put on myself to try and get the Wolves looking god has been a major demotivation, in terms of time taken to get any progress made.

So what’s the plan? number one, progress on a certain Titan I've now had for such a long time, it isn't even funny… then progress on the wolves. I may also paint some Americans as its fast and motivating,

Lastly, the release of the Inquisition Codex may be the incentive I need to dust off some minis form my old DH army, see what can be salvaged and compose a roving Inquisitor to use with my Wolves and IG both.

Thanks for your patience.
