I need a little perspective so I’m leaving this guy for a while now.
I also need to pick up a brita water filter. when that’s done I’ll do some additional detail then prime him. I always like to look again once a model is primed as the change of colour can shift your whole perspective.
Once I’m happy then, I’ll get to paint, but it might be a wee while, so that it can come together in my head.
I can really see the temptation for a modeller to start Death Guard. I already have too many projects in various states of repair, with that in mind I might turn my attention to the guard for a while, I find them easy to paint, and they are (likely for that reason) my most complete current army so far (excepting the ork and ultras from back in the mists).

Nurgle DP sculpt update
In a continuing series of posting things I haven't finished yet (mainly because finishing them takes a loooong time these days) Here is the current state of the DP.

You might want to ignore that second pic, it’s a bit blurry.
Anyway, he’s had a lot more detail and texture, and a large part of the final form is finished now, I’ve tried to keep asymmetry in mind with the sculpt, while not unbalancing the figure, adding some pustules and wounds, some cabling and hoses and some venom sac looking things building on the whole liquid squirting nastiness theme that the barrels gave me.
the head got changed out and modified, I’ve gone for three fly-ish eyes and I'm going to bulk out the chins once it’s on the body.
I don't think there's a lot left to do, but I do need to find an old water filter for some easy small grain details to finish off some of the skin, as my old fingers cant quite deal with making GS that small.
As with the last post, I’m open and eager for Ideas from anyone out there with a nurgle eye. I’ve never sculpted or painted a nurgle model in my life before :)

WiP sculpt, I need some opinions
Oh god, I found time to do something hobby-related!
I am hesitant to post something so very incomplete, but I feel the need to get some opinions if anyone is in the sharing mood.
A while ago a friend and work colleague bought one of the new (then) Demon prince kits, for his new army. he’s a 40k player like me and his new CSM force was going to be Khorne and Nurgle. he built a DP out of the box, and I said (maybe foolishly) “Give me the leftovers and I’ll make a second DP”.
Well I’ve had a look at the contents, and cobbled together a rough take on said DP. please bear in mind I'm deciding here on the FORM(of the destructor!), we’re a loooooong way from detail yet.
I wanted it to look like it was once a marine, hence the oversized legs and back vents, and that it was able to fire a cone template without being too like the FW world model. though I did steal the barrel Idea.

He’s blu-taked heavily, he needs more pipes and tubes, he hasn't been “nurgled” at all (pustules flesh etc) he is going to get a bigger belly, most likely with guts, and his feet need to be added (hoofish) on looking at these pics I have the sinking feeling that the DP head is a bit small and I might need to find an alternative, maybe an ork head with suitable mods…. dunno.
I’m posting because I’d like to hear any input, while I can still make changes (although the inevitable “make the legs thinner” comments will be nigh impossible at this stage without starting over.) I’m no nurgle expert, but I think I might have something decent here with more refinement and a lot of detailing.
What do you think?
So there you have it, some hobby content, you never know, I might get to paint something too at this rate!

I promised you something
It’s certainly not my best work, as it was created in an attempt to show students, step-by step how to create their own.
I think a bit of background is in order. I teach Game design, and as part of a HND character design module we are working backwards, and forwards at the same time, in that students who have created a 3D mesh in maya are also sculpting the same character physically, (just a head/bust) we are then both scanning the sculpt and 3D printing the mesh. that should give thier portfolios some decent fodder, and also it helps them to make the connections with more organic sculpting software such as zbrush.
Anyway, yeah, i had to make a head, in order to show them how to make a head.

Not the best pics either. Its a core of aluminium foil with magic sculp over and a wee bit of paint at the end. overall its about 5” tall.
It’s been a while since I sculpted anything from scratch, ie anything that didn't have a GW part in it somewhere and it was nice to flex the muscles at work.
what was even batter was seeing how the students took to it, especially those students who have a hard time with a pencil, it was nice to be able to show them that it wasn't their creativity that was lacking, just that they express themselves better with other media.

An apology
First to my readers/followers , sorry I've been away. Heck I'm not even saying "I'm back" yet, but I do need to apologise.
Secondly, to the people out there who I entered into collaborative efforts with, or said "yeah I can do that for you" to. I know I've let you down by being away and that's really not good.
Reasons? well I've had a change of timetable at work, pretty much since september, and with my Crohn's disease, that timetable has meant that when I get home, I'm good for nothing. literally. it's also been very hectic as my place of work has had OFSTED this week just gone.
For those outside the UK thats an educational inpsection process. a lot of work pressure comes with that.
I've a literal ton of hobby stuff I want to get done, but I havent touched brush to miniature outside of work for four or five months, I need to finish my wolves, get my speek freeks going, I've got a couple of project for freinds, and my IG to finish off. and this is my first time at my desk for non-work related stuff since way before chrsitmas.
I did manage a couple of things in the realm of sculpting at work, and I might post those in the next few days, if only so that something has appeared here.
And all this with new =][= on the way. ugh.
Anyway, I didnt want to post an excuse post, nor did I want to post an "i'm back" post. but I did want to post an apology.
Sorry everyone.
