Astra Militarum Taurox Prime Halftrack conversion

So this is what I went with after consulting the hivemind.

I reshaped the wheel arch and added a mudflap.

The front profile will change, some pieces are not yet attached for ease of painting, and most of the weapons are magnetised.

I say most.. I have a habit of magnetising a full set of weapons then only running it in one configuruation but codex changes still make this valuable (for instance if i paint some already magnetised rocket pods, my expensive low capacity vendettas can be valkyries)

There we go, one slightly less goofy looking (imho) APC.

Thanks for the input chaps.

  1. Like the look of this far better then the default model. If you were looking for any additional suggestions, I'd extend the fender well out slightly to cover the top of the front wheels. (So the wheels aren't sticking out farther then the body of the model).

That's not really necessary though, just a nit pick suggestion! Can't wait to see it painted!

    1. Thanks for the comment Greg, - I did dry fit some pcard there, but it looked naff frankly, and i thought about replacing the arch with some leman russ track guard, but again, it wasnt right for the aesthetic of the other guards.. in the moment the status quo seemed the best compromise.

  3. So there IS hope for this thing...
Jeez- ANY change over those hideous tracks is an amazing difference.

    1. Cheers matey, I DO like some of the 4-wheeled versions out there, looks like a modern military ATV like that. but it's for STORMTROOPERS.. is needed to be a halftrack in my mind :)

  4. I want to see if anyone can replace the back tracks too and see how it looks with only tires.

    1. I have seen that (and dry fit same) it looks a bit like a foxhound, very doable, but as I say I wanted a halftrack :)

  5. the wheels are too small ... better removing the whole left over front traks ... but is an improvement ... I saw in past blogs some pics with the two alternative wheel sets ... perhaps adding one of those for the front set ... but I'm having hope ... thanks

    1. I did try without the housing - you can see some of that in the previous post, but it didnt look quite right to me, and i'm not enough of a plasticard wizard to make something convincing...

  6. Im excited to see this painted. I agree with everyone that it looks much better than the out of the box version! The last shot makes it look very mean! I just hope no one is shooting the Autocannon when the door is open!
