DSC_9251 DSC_9252 DSC_9253

Finally finished this group, Took a wee while among other hobby tasks, but there it is.

DSC_9233

These three were the last models, the Sarge and the special and heavy weapon guy. Three flamers templates from 1 tac squad, at str 3, 4 and 5.

Heavy flamer guy, getting more comfortable with these now- don't get me wrong, these aren't “display” models, they are tabletop, but the blajnce of speed and result is getting there.

Sarge, hand flamer and power sword. yeah, it’s that kind of tac squad.

This guy feels oldschool. I miss beaky lids. so glad theres a bunch in this box.

So that’s a tac squad done. it’ll be a while before I do another full squad, though I might make a smaller one with melta/inferno.

More Blood Angel Tacticals

DSC_9188

Better colour on the red this time, a little darker, as I dail in the mixes to avoid chalkiness. I’m using reaper MS paints for the first time on this army and I like them a lot, but I do need to get more used to them as in a lot of ways they are quite different.

These chaps will join the three you've already seen, and with the remainder will take custody of the drop pod posted earlier.

They look fine all together, despite the slight variation in the reds

I know, marines should have their helmets on, but they do look cool without them, so sense be damned.

Besides how would they possibly tear into the flesh of their victims with helmets on?

Again, 2Nd Co, 3Rd Squad markings, as will their compatriots have. These don't paint up quick tho, sheesh.

Tallarn Veteran Squad and Sgt Harker Conversion

I decided I wanted to include some Tallarn in my desert themed IG army, but there aren't many available models, below I present my solution.

This squad is intended to be a forward element and solid firebase to be a thorn in the side of the advancing enemy.

It’s led by Sergeant Haq-qer

This conversion is based on the IG Harker model and honestly I haven't changed much just given him a top and a different head.

The remainder of the squad is made up of hvy weapon team and sniper models

Heavy bolter. It’s an expensive unit points wise, but it’s fun and should look good once it’s painted up. I do need to do a little hairdryer work on the bendy weapons, but that inst a big job. And yes, theres some model duplication, but so would there be were I using the old metal models.

Blood Angels Death Company – Test Paint

 DSC_9228

It’s been a while since I panted black, and with a shiny new squad of Death Company to do, I wanted to do a test mini first.

 DSC_9229

In order to do this, I dug out an old old death company metal mini that he previously been stripped, and gave it some spare bitz from the leftovers of the new box – the Death Co box gives you enough arms to give the guys bolters or CC weapons, and enough packs to use JP’s or normal powerplants..

DSC_9230

To be honest, it’s worked so well, that I’m going to dig out some more of the metal bodies and build a second squad for drop podding.

DSC_9231

They are a smidge small when compared to the new boxes, but that’s mostly posing not proportion, as these were cast metal they aren't very splayed out to avoid undercuts and things that could get caught in the mold. the newer models are all practically doing start jumps in comparison.

Anyhoo, feedback always welcome.

Blood Angels Death Company - Build

Assembled to fit the requirements for Raphen’s Death company so they can be fielded as troops.

DSC_9021

This is another lovely kit and allows for some really dynamic posing.
These guys have been put on my casts of the 32mm bases which I think improves the look.

DSC_9022 DSC_9023 DSC_9024

Raphen himself, bolt pistol and thunder hammer it says, so I modelled both rather than use the 2H grip.

DSC_9031 DSC_9032 DSC_9033

BP and fist. lovely bitz in this kit..

DSC_9034 DSC_9035 DSC_9036

Inferno pistol and chansword.

A decent loadout, tho min maxxers will complain is too expensive and not optimised, that’s fine, it looks fun and has made for some dynamic models.

Inferno pistols are pretty good for popping vehicles, I suppose the powersword is overkill, but the hammer and fist are very useful, so I’m quite happy to pay a little over the odds for them to be troops.

It means that future list options once I have a chaplain is a full DC allied detachment.
